The MJH Con Dios Foundation was created in 2004. Our mission is to do good works for Texas youth in honor and memory of Mary Jane Hamilton. Currently the foundation funds five $1,500 awards annually and purchases steers and poultry at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
The Small Charity Making a Big Difference in the Lives of Students
To date, the Mary Jane Hamilton Con Dios Foundation has purchased steers for almost $400,000 at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s Junior Market Steer Auction since 2004. We were especially thrilled to purchase our first champion steer at the 2006 steer auction and have been fortunate enough to continue doing so each year since then.
Offering Students a Second Chance
We get the most satisfaction from buying low end steers toward the end of the auction. We know that our steer-buying dollars do a world of good for our Texas youth. In addition, we have awarded $125,000 to individual hard-luck recipients, students who were unable to show due to unforeseen events.
